Bugs Bunny Takes on the Classics

Where did you first experience classical music? Perhaps your first exposure to Wagner, Schubert, Mozart, and others was through the Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes cartoons by Warner Bros., especially those starring that “rascally rabbit,” Bugs Bunny. The Marta and Austin Weeks Music Library presents an exhibit of musical works that were “performed” by Bugs and company in cartoons from the 1930s to the 1970s. The exhibit, featuring the music of Richard Wagner, Franz von Suppé, Gioacchino Rossini, and Franz Liszt, will be on display through the month of September.
