Koichi Tasa has served as the University Archivist at the University of Miami since September 2007. He oversees the organization of the materials that document the institutional history of UM, and he has aggressively digitized UM’s important historical resources such as the Office of the President Records, The Miami Hurricane, and the Historical Photograph Collection. He earned his M.L.S. from the School of Library Service, Columbia University in 1991 while working for its C. V. Starr East Asian Library as Library Specialist creating original cataloging records for their Japanese monographs and serials. He also received a certificate from the Modern Archives Institute, National Archives and Record Administration in 2006.

Prior to the current appointment, he worked for the Louis Calder Memorial Library and processed the Emanuel M. Papper, M.D., Ph.D. Archive. Dr. Papper was the Dean of the School of Medicine from 1969 to 1981, and his widow Mrs. Patricia Meyer Papper sponsored his position for two years. He also worked for the American Association of Advertising Agencies, which is headquartered in New York, as Vice President, International at the Member Information Service providing research assistance on international marketing.

Marcia Tyrrell Heath is the longest employed person on the 8th floor and has assisted the Special Collections and University Archives process important archival collections for almost two decades. She joined Archives and Special Collections’ team in 1998 after 10 years of service at Mercy Hospital, and 3 years of service at the University Of Miami English Composition department. Marcia attended the Kingston School of Nursing and holds an Associate Degree and LPN certification. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Marcia loves fishing, gardening and meditation.
