University of Miami Libraries Announces Launch of New Website

University of Miami Libraries Announces Launch of New Website

The University of Miami Libraries is proud to announce the completion of its redesigned website. With the re-engineered navigation menus, visitors will be able to navigate the site more easily, utilize enhanced search tools, access social media, and connect quickly to library news and events. The revamp of the site follows an extensive Beta period where students and faculty were asked for feedback regarding functionality and ease of use. The new site takes into consideration those comments and is designed with a fresh, friendly interface for an improved user experience.

The current site will remain in place through the spring semester, but a link on that site will allow visitors to familiarize themselves with the new site. Following this introductory period, the new site will replace the current site in May 2012.

Beta Extended Through Fall

We’ve heard you!  In March, the Libraries launched Beta 1.0, a major web site redesign. We then asked for your feedback and conducted additional user testing to gather more information.   In response to your feedback, we are making substantial improvements to the Beta 1.0 site over the course of the Fall 2011 semester.

During the fall semester the current Beta 1.0 site will remain available but will be replaced in mid-November with an upgraded Beta 2.0 site.   We plan to permanently switch to the new design during the Winter Break.

Beta Website Launched

The University of Miami Libraries is pleased to announce the launch of the beta  library web site [http://beta.library.miami.edu ] and catalog  [http://ibisweb.miami.edu:2082].

The new sites are the result of usability testing, focus groups, faculty interviews, and user surveys. The beta library site features more prominent search options providing quick, convenient access to core library information. Other features include quick links to frequently used services and resources, audience level pages to easily access library information important to students, faculty, and visitors, and a fresh new look. The new catalog includes the ability to send a text from within a record as well view Google Book Previews of titles where available.

Both the beta library site and beta catalog will run in parallel with the current sites to give everyone a chance to familiarize themselves with the new organization and provide feedback for improvements.  Users can switch back and forth via links to and from the beta sites in the upper banner.

Please be sure to click on the feedback link in the upper banner to let us know what you think!
