Summer 2018 Grant Cycle
(Funding for projects until August 31, 2019)

We are excited to announce the two faculty awards for the Summer 2018 Grant Cycle for the Mellon Foundation CREATE Grants Program at the University of Miami. Funding is available for these projects until August 31, 2019. Award recipients are:

• Karen Mathews, Ph.D. / Assistant Professor of Art History, College of Arts and Sciences
  Lowe Art Museum
  “Animating Antiquity: Interactive Environments for the Lowe Art Museum’s Collection of Ancient Artworks”
  Amount Awarded: $4,150
• Amy Scott, Ph.D. / Assistant Professor of Chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences
  Lowe Art Museum
  “The Science of Glass: Structure and Optics”
  Amount Awarded: $4,900

The CREATE Committee is comprised of representatives from the Lowe Art Museum; University of Miami Libraries; and faculty members from Colleges and Schools at the University of Miami. This committee reviewed the applications and selected the projects that offered the best creative, interdisciplinary employment of artwork, artifacts, or archival materials at the University of Miami Libraries and Lowe Art Museum.
