Camner Center for Academic Resources (Undergraduate Education)
The Camner Center at the University of Miami offers a multitude of resources for every constituent of the University of Miami community: students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators. Our goal is to provide resources to help manage success and advance potential. Currently, we house 7 primary services: Tutoring Services, Office of Disability Services, Learning Specialist , UMX , Academic Workshops, Faculty Support , Independent Learning Initiative.
Learning Innovation and Faculty Engagement (Academic Technologies)
The Learning Innovation and Faculty Engagement team works with faculty to enrich courses through the appropriate use of technology and pedagogical techniques. This involves the improvement of on-campus courses, experiments with flipped classroom models of instruction, the creation of online courses to reach new audiences, leading the faculty learning communities, among other activities.
Math Lab (College of Arts and Sciences)
The Math Lab provides tutoring to any student enrolled in an undergraduate math course at the University of Miami. Tutors for all undergraduate courses are available on a walk-in basis. Please note that tutors’ hours change frequently and specific tutors previously listed for a given day may or may not be there at the same time in future weeks. If you are looking for a specific tutor, please check for the most recent schedule posted on The Math Lab door or contact the tutor directly.
Office of Academic Enhancement (Undergraduate Education)
The Office of Academic Enhancement (OAE) fosters a community of support for students that emphasizes academic excellence, campus engagement and professional development with a core focus on serving underrepresented and first-generation populations. Through mentoring, the OAE connects students to opportunities and resources that maximize their experience at the University of Miami and beyond. The OAE includes Empower Me First (UM’s First Generation initiative), Prestigious Awards and Fellowships, Foote Fellows Honors Program, Residential College Advising, First Year Fellows and Programs of Academic Excellence which supports the Hammond, Jenkins and Gates Scholars.
Student Technology Help Desk (Academic Technologies)
The Student Technology Help Desk is a free computer support center for students. We provide a multitude of services including internet configuration, virus and spyware removal, system restorations, software installations and upgrades on laptops, desktops, smartphones, and tablets.
Technology Assistance Program (UMIT Enterprise Services)
The University of Miami Technology Assistance Program (TAP) offers guided consultations for support with productivity software, and conducts workshops in the Learning Commons, enhancing the existing academic services that bridge the gap between academics and technology.
Writing Center (College of Arts and Sciences)
The Writing Center at the University of Miami strives to help all members of the university community learn more about writing and become better writers. Their professional and friendly tutors work with writers in one-to-one consultations on all stages of the writing process, from note-taking and pre-writing to revision strategies and proofreading techniques. Writers can make appointments with the Writing Center to work on papers for any University of Miami course, senior theses, master’s theses and dissertations, personal statements, business letters and resumes, grant proposals, articles for publication and personal writing projects.
